What is an electronic invoice (eInvoice)?
From January 1, 2027, electronic invoicing will be mandatory for all business entities. It's not just a format change – it's a revolution in how companies communicate.
What is eInvoice
An electronic invoice is a structured digital document in XML format that allows automatic processing without manual data entry. Unlike PDF, it contains machine-readable data.
Why it's created
The goal is to reduce administrative burden, streamline tax controls, and modernize the business environment in line with European legislation and the ViDA directive.
What changes
Invoices will need to be issued, sent, and received in an electronic structured format through the certified Financial Administration system. Paper and PDF invoices will no longer be accepted.
Why PDF is not enough
PDF is just an image of a document – like a photo of paper. eInvoice contains structured data that enables automatic processing, validation, and integration with accounting systems without manual retyping.
